摘要
Since any point in the layout area can be chosen as the design point of a condition, how to select the optimal design point becomes an important basis for current low-speed engine designs that are of great significance to improving the performance of ships for economic reasons and navigation. In this paper, the main engine of a 38800DWT bulk carrier is preliminarily selected, and two factors that affect the selection of the design point of the condition were analyzed, such as the ship operation margin and shaft generator load. The concept of the rotational speed coefficient was introduced for ship operation margin. The emphasis is on the influence of the ship operation margin on the actual navigation of the ship. Finally, the fuel consumption was used as the optimization object to determine the design point of the condition. The selection methods of the design point of the condition were determined, and the design method was applied to a real ship. The design agrees well with the parameters of the main engine. The result verifies the correctness of the method discussed in this paper, providing theoretical guidance for the design of large, low speed diesel ships.
