In order to analyze the sunshine temperature difference mode of U-shape beam, the U-shape section of prestressed concrete single-tower cable-stayed bridge on the Shanghai-Kunming Passenger Dedicated Line was taken for case-study. The shadow length on sloping section of arbitrary angle caused by the structure was carried out. A thermodynamics simulated model considering the parameter of atmospheric environment, the location and position, and the shadow was established to analyze the temperature difference mode of U-shape beam. The study shows that the temperature field in U-shape beam is more complicated than box-shape beam because the web of U-shape beam is shined directly and the bottom slab is covered by the box. The temperature difference mode of U-shape beam cannot be simulated by single curve and the modes. The exited bridge codes were not suited for U-shape beam. Under the principle of stress equality, the temperature difference of U-shape beam was suggested as follows: the maximum temperature difference at highest point of the box room of U-shape beam up-slab is 20℃, reducing to zero with a distribution of exponential function; the maximum temperature difference at down-slab of U-shape beam is 2.5℃ and reduces linearly within a height of 0.2 m. © 2016, Science Press.
