摘要:
Washington's top US Department of Energy (DoE) officials believe that Washington has to reduce the number of nuclear weapons in its arsenal. With a smaller operational nuclear arsenal, fewer weapons will be needed in reserve for spares, testing and as a hedge against technical or geopolitical changes. It is believed that while the overall number of weapons will be reduced, there are no plans to scale back on the variety of weapon types. The moves are being made as part of a new stockpile plan approved by the US government.
