Novel dynamic adaptive link failure detection method

The existing failure detection methods can't satisfy failure detection time limit requirement to high real-time business. A dynamic adaptive adjustment algorithm of detection interval was proposed. Aiming at the problem of detection time setting of the proposed algorithm, analytic expression of the expected failure time of the link was ratiocinated. The proposed method takes adjustment of detection interval as an entry point, and adjusts detection interval continually according to link quality. Moreover, closed loop feedback detection mechanism was formed. Results show that fast failure detection can be achieved with low false alarms when failure detection time is set to fourth time the value of detection interval, the proposed method can decrease 15% packets spending, and reduce 60% failure detection time, and has visible failure detection advantages in congestion complex networks. © 2016, Editorial Board of Journal of Huazhong University of Science and Technology.
