摘要
Higher plants produce a plethora of bioactive secondary metabolites, with these compounds thought to serve primarily as defensive substances against animal and plant predators. In this chapter, several known and novel compounds are described from five medicinal plants, with particular emphasis made on their potential use as cancer chemotherapeutic agents or cancer chemopreventives. Reference is made to the previously documented pesticidal activities of these species and their constituents.
