An optimized location-based handover scheme for high-speed railway LTE networks

In this paper, we propose an optimized location-based handover scheme for high-speed railway LTE networks. In this scheme, we adopt a pre-bearer procedure where the target evolved node B (eNodeB) will prepare bearer resources before handover execution. Then we optimize the handover execution procedure for user equipment (UE) to perform handover successively in signaling and data link with relay mode. Finally, the whole optimized handover signaling procedure is presented. Through extensive simulations, the results show that both the Handover Interruption Latency and Radio Link Failure (RLF) probability can be reduced sharply in the proposed scheme compared with the basic locationbased handover scheme. © 2014 Binary Information Press
