Study on viewport creep characteristics based on compression creep test

Polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), a kind of high polymer material commonly used for viewports of deep-sea structures, tends to creep under high pressures even at room temperature. Uniaxial compression creep tests are carried out on domestic YB-3 PMMA specimens to figure out the creep characteristics under high pressures at room temperature. Temperature function is added to revise the accumulation theory, and creep constitutive formula is fitted from creep curve through the least square method. Based on this formula, three simulation models are built to study the creep characteristics of different viewport forms, which can be references for further research and engineering design. © 2021, Editorial Board of Journal of Ship Mechanics.
