The U.S. Access Board’s Rail Vehicle Access Advisory Committee (RVAAC) identified the development of fully accessible sleeper compartments as an urgent issue for the rail industry. People with mobility impairments who travel on long-distance trains often are highly restricted in their access to onboard amenities such as the dining, lounge, or observation cars.
