Based on observations on the evolving context of systems engineering in general, and the perceived consequences for the sector, this document proposes an example of a scenario of evolution and adaptation of engineering to new issues, already emerging or conceivable in the future. It then puts forward a number of capacities to be acquired in order to favor efficient adaptation of engineering to these issues, and outlines some guidelines for changing engineering practices and tools in the face of the coming challenges.
