摘要
In order to investigate the microstructure and interactions between the components in coating process of capacitive deionization electrode, linear and branched polymer binders were used to research the influence on the surface morphology of coated electrode through rheological behavior analysis. Based on this, connect the flow behavior and microstructure to guide the molding process of electrode. Results show that chain structure plays an important role on rheological property and morphology. For linear polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), less chain end crosslinked networks were formed by bridging flocculation between polymer and particles, leading a wider processing window. And the electrode film is firm and nonelastic cause of hydrogen bond. While for branched polyethyleneimine (PEI), abundant end groups form highly crosslinked networks, leading a significant shear thinning. And the electrode is brittle and easy cracking. Based on the above analysis, a rheological method for binder selection and operation of coating was proposed. © 2023 Chengdu University of Science and Technology. All rights reserved.
