摘要
In a land of earthquakes like Japan, one of the most common cause for collapse of wooden houses is the story collapse on the first floor. In this paper, a new method to control seismic response of wooden houses using rocking walls was proposed. By redistributing the reserve strength of upper floor to the first floor that is short of sufficient seismic performance in most cases, it is possible to improve the safety of the entire building. Through time history response analysis, it was confirmed that the seismic response of the first floor was reduced very effectively by this method. © 2022 Architectural Institute of Japan.
