In an environment of rising energy prices, manufacturing companies are looking for ways to reduce these costs. Incidental energy costs can account for 75 Procent of the electricity price; however, special regulations make it difficult to optimize the design of energy systems. Therefore a planning tool for the use of flexibility means in order to reduce additional energy costs is presented. The focus is on peak shaving as well as intensive and atypical grid usage. The evaluation revealed potentially significant cost reductions. © Carl Hanser Verlag GmbH & Co. KG
