摘要
Amplified in intensity and frequency by climate change, extreme weather events such as floods, deep freezes, and heat domes are taking an ever-increasing human and economic toll on communities across the United States. While media coverage sometimes portrays these natural disasters as indiscriminately affecting rich and poor alike, in reality the damage and lasting impact often fall unequally—with residents of low-income neighborhoods typically bearing the brunt.
