In this study, the inverse point kinetics equation is solved numerically by using the seven-point Newton-Cotes quadrature to calculate reactivity. Different numerical experiments considering different shapes of neutron population density with different simulation times are performed to validate the methodology. The results show that the numerical experiments performed allow calculating reactivity with high accuracy for the reference solution given by the analytical solution. It is concluded that the results obtained are highly accurate, if time steps are preferably small, when compared to other methods reported in the literature. © 2021 Centro de Informacion Tecnologica.
