Uncertainty analysis of calibration ship model single-run resistance tests

The uncertainty of the resistance tests of the ship model towing tank were analyzed, and the method to reduce the uncertainty of the tests was put forward.According to the process of the ship model resistance test, the error sources in the test process were presented, and the influence of the error sources on the test results were determined according to the transfer equation of uncertainty.Repeated single-run tests of a calibration ship model with rudder were carried out on different dates, and the test results were obtained.According to the components of the total resistance, all the test results were converted into tests values at nominal temperature, and then the uncertainty were analyzed.The analysis results show that at 95% confidence level (k=2), the expanded uncertainty of the total resistance of each speed and its main hydrodynamic coefficients are less than 1.1%.The expanded uncertainty of friction resistance coefficient is less than 0.025%, and that of the Froude number is less than 0.1%. © 2020, Editorial Board of Journal of Huazhong University of Science and Technology.
