A Methodical Design Approach Based on Systems Engineering. Preliminary studies as described in Systems Engineering (SE) are suitable for evaluating the feasibility and developing a framework concept for large investment projects. Despite the high relevance for factory planning, a systematic description of a suitable approach is missing in literature. Based on the problem-solving cycle of SE, a procedure for a technical feasibility study of changeable, value stream oriented factories is presented – the Rapid Plant Planning. © 2021 Carl Hanser Verlag.
