In this paper; a full-bridge diode-clamped four-level asymmetric switching converter with pulse-amplitude-modulation (PAM) was proposed. Since the proposed converter is implemented using a multi-neighboring reference vector discontinuous PWM (MNRV DPWM) based on the symmetric two half-bridge (HB) control; the implementation of the MNRV DPWM algorithm is very easy. The steady-state operating characteristics of the proposed converter; including voltage gain; were analyzed. The voltage deviation of the DC link capacitors was eliminated and the output voltage was controlled by the PAM in a simple linear manner. The proposed converter has the advantage of reducing reactive power compared to the existing phase-shift method by an additional powering cycle. The effectiveness of the proposed converter was verified through simulation. © The Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers;
