Electricity-heat Coordinated Control Strategy for Improving the Flexibility of a Once-through CHP Unit

To overcome the influence of “heat-led mode” on the combined heat and power (CHP) unit with a once-though boiler (OTB), the dual control method is introduced and improved to develop a coordinated control strategy for electricity and heat coordination. Based on the identification of operation data, the dynamic model for heat-electricity conversion is established; then the coordinated model for the OTB-CHP unit is developed. The integral signal of thermal load deviation is reconstructed to realize the real-time detection of thermal load. The dual control strategy is proposed to improve the load change speed by use of heat extraction active response, and to recover the heat load by use of accurate energy balance. The simulating results reveal that with the proposed strategy the load change speed can reach 3% of its rated power in per minute, the automatic generation control (AGC) performance index can be doubled, and the key parameters such as heat load can be kept stable. The proposed control strategy realizes the coordinated control of once-through CHP units and significantly improves the unit operating flexibility. ©2023 Chin.Soc.for Elec.Eng.
