Since its founding in 1925, the International Amateur Radio Union (IARU) has worked tirelessly to defend and expand the frequency allocations for amateur radio. A proud and active member of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU)- IARU was admitted in 1932 to the CCIR (International Technical Consultative Committee for Radioelectric Communications), the forerunner to today's ITU Radiocommunication Sector (ITU-R), and has been contributing to the work of ITU ever since.
