Numerical experiments were carried out to study the influence of geometric, electric and physical parameters discharges in xenon and in krypton into spectral and energy characteristics of pulsed radiation sources. A wide range of data of the parameters of the discharges, including the temperature fields in the discharge and the spectral distribution of radiation, have been obtained. The conditions under which a given level of peak radiation strength in the UV region of the spectrum can be ensured are determined. The frequency ranges of the pulses and the average electrical powers that ensure compliance with the requirements for the output of UV radiation are indicated. An assessment of the effect of reversible quartz opacity on the short-wavelength radiation power is given.
