摘要
There were several railway transportation accidents caused by railway buckling. It was known that promoting the ballast lateral resistance is a way to enlarge the safety margin of railway buckling. And this study intended to analyze how to approach the aim effectively. The purposes of the study are as follows: measure the lateral resistance of Taiwan Railway, figure out the relations between ballast material, ballast bed cross-section and lateral resistance, ascertain which parameters affect lateral resistance significantly, and develop a predictive model for lateral resistance. The study chooses 113 measuring points, using Single Tie Push Test (STPT) to measure lateral resistance. 50 kg ballast is collected for the following material tests which include sieve analysis, Los Angeles abrasion test, and water absorption test. Flakiness Index and cobble ratio are also checked. Then carry on regression analysis to realize which parameters affect lateral resistance greatly. © 2021, Chinese Institute of Civil and Hydraulic Engineering. All right reserved.
