Aggregate is a critical element in the construction, maintenance, and repair of roadways and concrete structures. However, the aggregate resources needed for the construction and maintenance of highways, local roads, and streets, as well as for basic materials for concrete struc tures and drainage applications, often are not given sufficient consideration early in the planning and design process.
