摘要
Power electronic module is the core component of a hybrid DC circuit breaker (HDCCB) to break the fault current, which has an important influence on the breaking characteristics of HDCCB. Integrated gate commutated thyristor (IGCT) has the advantages of large capacity, low on-state voltage, fast turn-off speed and strong anti-surge capability. It is widely used as a core turn-off device in power electronic modules. For this reason, a parallel IGCTs module is designed for DC breaking conditions. Based on theoretical analysis and experimental verification, the influence rules of on-state current sharing of parallel IGCTs under different current rising rates, clamping forces and wiring modes are obtained. A control method for parallel IGCTs current sharing during turning off is proposed. The results show that the on-state current sharing of the parallel IGCTs is mainly affected by the IGCT device's parameters of threshold voltage and slope resistance. And the greater the clamping force is, the smaller the slope resistance will be. The current sharing coefficient of parallel IGCTs of wiring mode of same side is greater than that of the opposite side. By controlling the turn-off timing of the parallel IGCTs, the instantaneous power distribution imbalance during the turn-off process can be improved. The turn-off capability and reliability of module can also be improved. © 2020, High Voltage Engineering Editorial Department of CEPRI. All right reserved.
