Lean Production and Industry 4.0 are two key approaches for manufacturing companies to counter the increasingly dynamic and competitive environment. In this study, experts were asked about the duration of implementation and the relevance of individual lean production and Industry 4.0 elements for competitiveness. Company and production characteristics were taken into account to provide support for manufacturing companies in the lean production and Industry 4.0 implementation. © 2021 Walter de Gruyter GmbH, Berlin/Boston.
