Effect of Installation Angle on Icing Distribution of Rotating Blade by Icing Wind Tunnel Test

To research the law of icing distribution on rotating blade surface, the icing wind tunnel tests had been carried out based on the using natural low temperature icing wind tunnel experiment system which designed and established by ourselves. The blade model used in this research is NACA0018 airfoil. Three kinds of installed angles including 0°, 10° and 20° were selected. Three kinds of rotating speeds including 200 r/min, 400 r/min and 600 r/min were selected to test. The flow velocities are 6 m/s and 8 m/s respectively. The icing distribution on blade surface was obtained by high-speed camera. The capture time is set to 15 min, 30 min, 45 min and 60 min. The icing shapes obtained under different conditions were quantitatively analyzed by irregular icing shape evaluate method which was proposed by previous research. The icing area on blade surface was qualitatively analyzed by relative and absolute windward. The results show that the installed angles has a greatly influence on the icing distribution on blade surface. The icing distributions on blade surface at different installed angles under the same condition have big differences. The rotation speeds and flow velocity also have little influence on the icing distribution. This study can be as reference for the research on anti-icing and de-icing technologies for wind turbine. © 2019, Science Press. All right reserved.
