The UN International Year of Glass, celebrated throughout 2022, offers an opportunity to reflect on the enabling role of glass in fiber optics-and on their entangled futures. In May 2021, the United Nations (UN) General Council formally approved the designation of 2022 as the UN International Year of Glass (IYoG)-an opportunity to celebrate the material’s essential role in society.
