A pile-post type of mooring system for a barge-like platform to be deployed in very shallow waters is proposed in this paper, whose performances are analyzed and presented. Based on the three dimensional potential flow and linearized wave theory, hydrodynamic and time-domain motion analyses for the platform are performed, considering the condition of a supply vessel moored next to the platform with the hydrodynamic interaction between the vessels. This study provides the reference for further optimization of mooring systems, for the design of model test programs and for the identification of the allowable sea states for the safe operation of platforms. © 2021, Editorial Board of Journal of Ship Mechanics.
