The paper focuses on the most frequent names of God the Creator both in exegetical literature and in church poetry. Hymnographic texts play an important role in the formation and dissemination of Christianity, in particular ideas about God, since they convey complex theological ideas in simple, comprehensible language with the help of vivid, easy-toremember images. God occupies a central place in the worldview of medieval man and is described through many names. The most frequent of them are "auctor", "creator" and "conditor", united by the idea of creation. These nouns largely retain the meanings they had in ancient Latin, but new meanings of these words are also noted in Christian contexts.
