摘要
As a famous poet of the second half of the 20th century, Ted Hughes was influenced by shamanism and shamanistic culture. Both his poetics and his poems demonstrate the similarities between the poet and the shaman. This paper makes a comparative study between the two, and explores the bright shamanistic qualities in Ted Hughes' poetics and poetry in four aspects including his prophetic thoughts as a poet, the delirious state in the process of creation, the musicality of his poems and the healing functions of his poems. Through such kind of comparative study, the paper aims to explore the peculiar poetics of Ted Hughes and the special artistic characteristics of his poetry resulting from both inheritance and innovation.
