Materialistic empiricism of Luz y Caballero vs Kantian apriorism

The results presented in this article aim to enrich the knowledge of the thoughts of the outstanding Cuban philosopher and pedagogue Jos & eacute; de la Luz y Caballero. The study presented fulfills the objective of revealing the main determinations of his criticism of the apriorism and subjectivism of Kant's conception of the genesis, nature, and trajectory of human knowledge. The authors highlight the Lucianist assessments of Kant's extraordinary contributions to universal philosophical thought and uncover the main determinations of his critical stance against the weaknesses of Kantian gnoseology. Thus, the great Cuban philosopher, with a novel gnoseological project of high theoretical flight, contributed to the forging of an authentic and original Cuban philosophy. The research demanded the meticulous processing of the selected sources and the application of the most convenient logical procedures of scientific knowledge.
