The enlightened author Joan Ramis died on February 12, 1819 and, shortly after, the first volume of his Political and Civil History of Menorca appeared posthumously, preceded by << De los empleos y exercicios literarios del infatigable Mahon & eacute;s el Dr. D. Juan Ramis y Ramis >> , the canonical biography of the author by Francesc Pons i Carreras. Despite the relative brevity required by the preliminary nature of the text, a careful reading allows us to grasp, enveloped by praise and the desire for historical veracity, a series of traditional and enlightened discursive elements of the genre that show the interrelationship between exemplary moral and literary of the writer and legitimize Joan Ramis as a model of his time.
