摘要
We are all aware of the 5As of tobacco cessation. The training of tobacco cessation revolves around the 5As and 5Rs . 5As and 5Rs summarize all activities that a health professional can do to help tobacco users quit the habit within 3-5 minutes of behavioural counselling in a primary care setting, This opinion article proposes five Ws for the health care professionals to assess the 5 As with few behavioural gesture indicators that can be taken into account for the assessment of tobacco quitting. These can be regarded as supplementary cues during the behaviour counselling for quitting tobacco use. Each of them may be further quantified with a scale. These additional 5Ws added along with 5As of tobacco cessation is for skill enhancement while counselling and empowering the health care professional for tobacco cessation intervention. However this methodology is a proposal and needs to be validated for its psychometric properties.
