摘要
As dementia increases, new forms of treatments are being explored to offer people with dementia (PWD) options outside of the traditional treatment models. The introduction of reminiscence therapy through virtual reality technology combines sight, touch, sound, and events from past experiences. Through this non-pharmacological approach, it is hoped that PWD will recall memories of their past lives, have reduced episodes of depression and improve their quality of life as they age in place in their homes and communities. The paper reports an exploratory study that seeks the input of PWD, care partners (CP), and employees of dementia care services in enhancing a VR reminiscence therapy prototype that is being considered for integration into an existing dementia care program.
