摘要：

This article studies El Abencerraje y la hermosa Jarifa . The analysis is based on the premise that this book advocates for tolerance between Christians and Muslims on the borders of Al-Andalus. Therefore, this study scrutinizes how the motifs of peace and war are represented in this book. Additionally, it studies the role of romantic relationships and love in the main characters' evolution. My research has as its main starting point the hypothesis that the friendship between Abindarraez and Rodrigo allows us to reinterpret the border conflicts and proposes an ethical message whose aim is to educate the reader about human beings' natural tendency toward solidarity.
