Urbanism with a gender perspective. Characteristics and their development in Latin America and Argentina

this text aims to outline the state of the art regarding the relationship between urbanism and gender perspective, presenting some characteristic features of its development in the local (regional and national) context. Urbanism with a gender perspective begins within a European and North American tradition and, from there, exhibits a theoretical and practical expansion beyond that original context. One of those new scenarios in which this perspective of urbanism is deployed is that of Latin America and Argentina. Especially taking into account the latter, the proposal of this work is (i) to characterize urbanism with a gender approach; (ii) identify some of the most significant conditioning factors for the emergence of this peculiar imbrication; and (iii) delimit some features of the instantiation of this new urban profile in the context of the region and the country.
