摘要
Increasing the demand for ultrasensitive sensors in the sensing community and significant breakthroughs in materials science have inspired and promoted the development of new-generation multi-sensing plasmonic sensors assisted by 2D materials. 2D materials have received significant attention from the research community due to their excellent properties. Their wide application in sensing is expected for environmental monitoring, medical diagnostics, and food safety. Recently, surface plasmon resonance (SPR) based sensors assisted with 2D materials such as Graphene, MoS2, MXenes, Black Phosphorous, Antimonene and their heterostructures, have emerged as a class of novel plasmonic sensing with their great detection sensitivity and impressive performance. In this review, we comprehensively surveyed the use of a few of the above-mentioned 2D materials for designing Prism based SPR sensors. This work deeply explains the fundamentals of SPR, different numerical methods used for designing the effective SPR chip along with applications of 2D materials for the same. We understand that there are numerous reports available in the literature comprising the same topic but such as a comprehensive review covering the all above-discussed topics is still missing. The target audience of this review article are the students/researchers working in the fields of SPR based sensor devices.
