Aspects of Management Accounting in Startups Management

Due to the need for new management techniques, due to the competitive environment that companies are inserted in, the use of management accounting tools has been a form of innovation for institutions. This study aimed to analyze which aspects related to management accounting are inserted in the daily life of startups at the Scientific and Technological Center of the University of Coimbra. The research has a qualitative and quantitative analytical approach, with a descriptive characteristic. Data collection was carried out by survey, applying interviews and questionnaires with closed questions, with managers of 17 of the 25 startups established in the Polo. The results indicate that there is a low level of knowledge about management accounting, however, its management practices are applied in the researched companies.
