A Millimeter-Wave Filtering Fabry-Perot Cavity Antenna utilizing PRFS

摘要
This paper introduces a filtering technique applying to the Fabry-Perot Cavity (FPC) antenna for millimeter-wave (mmw) application. The proposed antenna is made up of FPC and partially-reflective-and-filtering surface (PRFS). The PRFS not only produces filtering response but also provides partially reflective surface (PRS) of waves. The designed antenna has both high-gain and filtering characteristics without increasing the overall profile and complexity, so it is a good candidate for millimeter wave applications. To demonstrate the design concept, we designed and fabricated a high-gain filter antenna operating at 30 GHz using PCB technology. The simulation results show that the antenna has good impedance matching in 29.5 GHz - 31.5 GHz, and the out-of-band suppression level is greater than 15 dB. The maximum gain of the antenna is 16.9dBi, and the flatness of the in-band gain is less than 4dB.
