摘要
The quality of the air close to big ports mainly depends on the emissions from ships. Although it is difficult to determine emissions from ships, improving the assessment of these emissions could help port management to find logistic solutions that can contain the effect of the concentration of many large ships in small spaces. In this paper, a new research group will be presented: the cooperation between the University of Naples and Istanbul Technical University will be focused on the study of ship emissions in port. The paper will represent the starting point of these shared research activities; it will try to develop a methodology for estimating, measuring, and validating emissions in ports of the two areas.
