This work offers a stylistic-discursive analysis of the lyrics "Cotidiano", by Chico Buarque, observing the effects of meaning caused repetition. It is proposed to analyze the lyrics, present in the album Constru & ccedil;& atilde;o (1971), according to the Discourse Stylistic's (HENRIQUES, 2011) and with the help of theoretical formulations and works from the French school Semiotics (FIORIN, 1996), to consider not only the stylistic textual resources and the imbrication of discursive layers in the construction meaning but also the context of production and the environment in which the song is inserted. Based on Henriques (2011), the lyrics are analyzed, throughout this article, observing the different layers of verbal language orchestrated in the song genre, inferring the expressiveness of each one and its relation with the content as it becomes relevant for the argumentation. Through this path, it is demonstrated how the several expressive resources' repetition, the semantic cohesion responsible for forming different isotopies and the context of the work's launch are responsible for building the text ambiguity through repetition. Taking everything into account, the lyrics transits between the banality of a couple's day-to-day life and the repression of the Military Dictatorship by updating the meaning of the text itself, thus also building a social criticism of the regime.
