摘要
center dot Self-expanding valves (SEV) and balloon-expandable valves (BEV) are the 2 main platforms for transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI). It is unclear whether there is a difference in shortand long-term outcomes between these 2 platforms. center dot BEV is associated with better overall survival versus SEV; this is mainly driven by a lower risk of death during the first 4 months after TAVI, and this difference is not maintained in the long-term. center dot For cardiovascular mortality, there is a time-varying effect that favors BEV in the first 3 years of follow-up and, then, there is a reversal of the risk favoring SEV beyond the 3-year timepoint. center dot SEV is associated with a lower risk of structural valve deterioration which is driven by a time-varying effect starting at 18 months after TAVI.
