center dot One in 5 children present with a cancer in the head and neck region and this frequency rate of cancer continues to increase. center dot The most common site of cancer in the head and neck region in children is the thyroid. center dot Early detection of head and neck cancer in children is difficult. Most presenting symptoms are nonspecific. center dot Surgical resection remains the mainstay of treatment for the majority of head and neck cancers in children.
