Manzoni, during the remaking of his novel, from Fermo e Lucia to Promessi sposi, through the ventisettana, has varied not only the contents of large parts, but also many terms, perhaps because of his stay in Florence : among these words the author mainly examines the uses connected to the vocabulary defining rascals or similar. Although this is a purely statistic survey, some curious data emerge, which lead us to consider in a particular light the revision work on the novel in Manzoni's atelier.
