The donation (2018), then the bequest (2022) of Andree and Jacques Doucet's collection of folk art have enriched the collections of the Mucem. In 1947, the couple travelled separately to Czechoslovakia (Andree) and Hungary (Jacques), before both were invited by a Hungarian collector to visit Budapest in 1948. From this trip and another made in 1963, they brought home ceramics, embroideries and icons under glass. They developed a passion for folk art and began collecting objects, souvenirs from their travels, which gradually formed part of the interior decoration of their Parisian apartment. The entire collection, together with Andree Doucet's own creations and a collage by Jacques Doucet, bear witness to an era, to a couple's taste and the influence that folk art may have had on the creations of two artists.
