摘要
The global economy heavily relies on the mining industry for the extraction of valuable minerals and resources. Nonetheless, this extraction process results in a substantial volume of waste, presenting environmental challenges and sustainability issues. Within this waste, valuable elements and minerals often lie dormant, awaiting proper extraction and processing to be converted into valuable products. This not only reduces the environmental impact but also taps into the economic potential of mining waste. In recent times, there has been a burgeoning interest in exploring creative solutions for the conversion of mining waste into products with added value. In this chapter, we delve into the prospect of harnessing value from mining waste through inventive methods. It delves into diverse innovative strategies, including advanced separation methodologies, bioleaching, and hydrometallurgical processes, all of which exhibit potential in recovering precious materials from mining waste. By addressing these themes, this chapter makes a valuable contribution to the continual drive for a mining industry that is more sustainable and environmentally conscious.
