THE ARISTOTELIANISM OF G.B. DELLA PORTA AND THE DEBATE ON THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE SINGULAR IN NAPLES DURING THE RENAISSANCE

This paper is divided into three parts. The first part deals with the historiography regarding the aristotelism of DellaPorta. Here I show that the issue is still debated in the recent historiography. The second part introduces the relationship between Della Porta's thought and the neapolitan aristotelianism. In particular, the positions of Francesco Storella e Girolamo Balduino are discussed. In the third part I proposed to understand the notion of 'secret of nature' in light of the neapolitan debate related to the knowledge of 'singular' and of Storella's logic.
