Music in video games can be integrated into school lessons and university seminars in a variety of ways. It can be analyzed as 'text', similar to other audiovisual media like movies or series. Though with an additional look at the importance of sound and how music reacts to the nonlinear character of games as well as how it plays a part in both the 'flow' and the immersion of gaming experiences. In addition, the connections between gaming technology and music/sound can be discussed. And finally, music games, especially rhythm games, can be a gateway especially for beginners for making music and playing or experimenting with it in an open and free environment. At the same time, there are challenges when it comes to integrating music into lessons: different gaming knowledge of students; access to the hardware and software; ludoliteracy (knowing games in the context of other media as well as how to play games and how they are made).
