摘要
Background/Purpose: The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has had a global impact both on general population and on individuals with existing health conditions. Stroke survivors and their family caregivers experienced additional strains during the pandemic. This study aimed to evaluate the psychological and physical effect of COVID-19 on these groups. Methods: Fifty family caregivers participated in the study. They completed a self-reported questionnaire in Greek language consisted of 26 questions regarding the status of the stroke survivors they are caring for and their personal state. Results: Results indicated that family caregivers and stroke survivors experienced additional caregiving challenges. Physical condition and socialization were affected during the pandemic according to stroke survivors' caregivers. Conclusion: The pandemic has further complicated the lives of stroke survivors and family caregivers which produces additional challenges and psychological consequences. Increased support to stroke survivors and their caregivers is needed.
