ON THE DELINCATION OF MUSICAL PERFORMANCE AND THE SOCIAL SCIENCES IN SPAIN: THE PRESENT OF THE HISTORICAL PROBLEM

Musical Performance in Spain is going through certain problems related to the lack of interest on the part of the population and its isolation from the university system. In 1914, a group intellectuals related to music described a possible crisis in artistic studies in the country that shared characteristics with the current situation. Among the possible hypotheses that they considered in this regard, the one that stood was that they blamed these problems on the profound disconnection that Spanish institutional musical studies had with theoretical knowledge and, specifically, with the social sciences. this article, the development of these theories will be studied and an analysis will be carried on the position occupied by the aforementioned theoretical and social -scientific knowledge the current musical situation in Spain, in order to verify whether the aforementioned hypotheses are still valid and can provide a real approach towards shortcutting the problems of Musical Performance.
