摘要
The objective of the research was to contrast the information reported by several authors on innovation and its relevance in the survival and profitability of organizations. For this purpose, a bibliographic review of what has been reported by various authors on the subject was carried out. Finally, from the review it can be noted that most of the studies consulted agree that innovation has a positive influence on the profitability of companies, which highlights the importance of this tool for their survival, becoming a necessity in today's world. Likewise, it was found that innovation brings with it a series of benefits for organizations, among which we can mention the improvement in sales and customer relations, reduction of waste and costs, improvement of the organization's position in the market, and finally, the improvement of employee relations, since the existence of an innovative work environment stimulates collaborators. Finally, when reviewing the current context of innovation, it is found that in Latin America and the country, there is a low investment in R&D compared to more developed countries, and even compared to some emerging countries, with the possibility that this gap will continue to widen; which invites reflection on the need to take corrective actions to turn this situation around, make the most of this important tool such as innovation, and thereby reduce the risk of persistence and/or increase of the gap with industrialized countries over time.
